Guilin

"Guilin's scenery is the most beautiful under heaven," so goes a Chinese saying describing the immortal beauty of Guilin city. Boats float down the charming Li River as limestone karst mountains just from the ground like dragon's teeth. Guilin is one of China's most famous Tourism places of scenic beauty. Guilin city is well - known both at home and abroad for its five wonderful characteristics: green hills, clear waters, fantastic caves, spectacular rocks and sweet scent of osmanthus.Its scenery enjoys the highest fame under the Heaven.

Guilin is also an important cultural city with a history encompassing more than 2000 years.Like many places in China, its history can be traced further back than many nations in the West during the Han dynasty.

The many ethnic minorities represented here that include the Zhuang, Yao, Hui, Miao, Mulao, Maonan and Dong enrich the cultural life of the city. Each minority has its own unique customs and festivals and this means that they are much more abundant here than in many other places elsewhere in China.

Travel guilin - The trip down the Lijiang River and a tour of the Reed Flute Cave are a must! You are so close to the nature, when you are on the Li River, watching mountains, hill and clear water in the lightly foggy morning. In the night, You'll never forget the nightseen when all the colorful lights turned on around the city of Guilin.

The Solitary Beauty Peak, located on the campus of the Guangxi Normal University, projects out from the ground like giant spike. With half its base sticking out into the Li River, Wave-Subduing Hill is located in the northeast of Guilin, near Solitary Beauty Peak. Folded Brocade Hill another well-known peak, offers cool relief with the aptly named Wind Cave. Reed Flute Cave has some of the best scenery in Guilin with stalactites and stalagmites casting distorted shadows that contort to the shifting multi-colored lights. To the south of town is Elephant Trunk Hill, Guilin's best known sight.

There is the Ling Canal in Xing'an Country 70km north of Guilin. Built from 219 to 214 B.C, it's considered one of China's three engineering marvels beside the Great Wall and the Dujiangyan irrigation system in Sichuan.

Neighboring Yangshuo is Better - Guilin is beautiful, but neighboring Yangshuo is even more beautiful and less crowded. The city is set surrounded by the beautiful karsts and one can't help but see them when wandering the city. There are also back water tours and it's great to ride a bike around the mountains. Much more beautiful and less touristy.
